OSA is dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities for students with disabilities
at West Virginia University. Students who feel that they are not being accommodated
appropriately in their classes, are encouraged to engage in our formal complaint process. Though students retain the right to file a formal complaint at any time, we often find that issues can be resolved quickly and directly with our involvement.
Stage 1: Meet with the Director
If you and/or your Accommodation Specialist have been unsuccessful in resolving
an accommodation issue, please contact the Director of Accessibility Services so
that we can assist in advocating on your behalf.

Stage 2: File a Complaint
If you remain unable to resolve your issue, even with the assistance of OSA leadership, the next stage would be to file a formal complaint with
the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
File a Complaint
Important Note
This process is
only for addressing issues related to disability accommodation.
If you are a Victim/Survivor of discrimination, harassment, or
retaliation,
as defined and prohibited by WVU Board of Governors Rule 1.6, you are encouraged
to
fill out a complaint with the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. If you are a Victim/Survivor of sexual assault, sexual violence or misconduct, domestic
violence or misconduct, dating violence, stalking, and do not feel safe,
please also call 911 immediately or contact the University Police Department at (304) 293-3136. There are additional resources listed on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion complaint form.
If you have a general (non-accommodation-related) concern about an assignment grade or course grade,
please contact your faculty member or the leadership within that unit to discuss
a grade appeal.
